When prospective members inquire about joining my Find Your Superpower Brand Builder Mastermind, they typically ask about the content first:

"What workshops are planned? What sessions will you cover? What’s the curriculum?"

As a former university assistant professor, I understand this instinct and I am happy to oblige. I love discussing curriculum. In fact, I’ve collected way too many certificates myself.

But that’s not the "C" that has gotten me this far in my career. 

It’s community.

Because what separates extraordinary leaders from the pack is not their credentials and certificates, but their ability to build meaningful connections that create opportunities for them.

I learned this lesson most powerfully through a decade of community building.

This year, as I built Find Your Superpower into a 200+ member Mastermind community, I wanted to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday in style.

My team and I organized an SG60 party for our community, and Chairman Heng Swee Keat agreed to be our guest of honor.

Bright and early on a Saturday morning, 50 of us showed up at the inspiring Jewel Changi Airport to honor our nation’s milestone, and the energy was electric.

From priceless lessons from Singapore’s founding prime minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew, to PSLE examinations and the future of work in the AI era, no topic was off the table. Chairman Heng answered every single question and even gave us book recommendations!

It was good to catch up with long-time members of my community and meet new members.

PS: we have active Mastermind members in more than 15 cities around the world, and so not everyone is able to join us.

A $3-5K workshop won’t move the needle

Here’s what I’ve observed working with hundreds of corporate executives: Many believe they can attend a US$3-5K workshop, listen to a guru speak over a few days, and magically emerge transformed forever.

They are constantly chasing the next framework, the latest methodology, the perfect viral content formula.

I encounter folks who have taken dozens of courses in search of the best one—and don’t get me wrong, as an educator myself I believe in lifelong learning—but what if they actually tried implementing just one of those frameworks consistently?

In fact, in the entrepreneurship community, we often say ideas are cheap (or frankly, worth nothing at all).

The money lies in the implementation. The founder’s ability to execute.

And most of us fail to implement in isolation.

In particular, senior leaders face an immense amount of loneliness—the higher you climb, the fewer peers you have who truly understand your pressures, decisions and the weight of leadership. 

We also get busy. The stresses of life take over.

Maybe we’ll try again in 2026 or 2027... and nothing happens for 5-10 years.

True transformation requires three non-negotiables: community for support and accountability; a mission-oriented coach to provide you a sustainable strategy; and an outcomes-driven approach that measures real results.
